NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police said a routine arrest at a North Kansas City casino quickly escalated into a fight involving 450 people.

Officers were attempting to arrest a number of people at the VooDoo Lounge in Harrah’s casino early Sunday morning when the people fought back. Other casino patrons joined in the fracas until hundreds of people were involved.

Police backed off until officers from other area law enforcement agencies could arrive to help quell the disturbance. Five people were later arrested in the fight.

Two North Kansas City officers and numerous casino employees and patrons also received minor injuries.
